Motion Capture Idle Animation

Mocap animation after cleanup

For this project I cleaned up an idle animation that was done in motion capture. The idle animation was based on a martial arts fighter preparing to fight.

For the beginning process, I had to fix the hands because they would bend in the opposite direction. My biggest issue was with the right elbow snapping backwards. I spent a good week going back to fix it. My main focus was fixing the arms and hands from jittering throughout the animation. I used animation layers for specific body parts.

After fixing the issues, I focused on adding the animation principles. I added some squash and stretch when the character prepares for his fighting pose. I tried to add line of action by bending the spine, but I was not too successful.

After the critique I realized that a knee ball joint snapped backwards. I was also not successful in fixing the feet from sliding. The hands are also too straight before and after the character does his fighting stance. After doing this project I am starting to get the hang of the graph editor.
